UDAVI has an own shelter home for street children.
The shelter has four main functions:
1. Basic Needs
The first target of the shelter is to take care that all children have enough food and clothes
2. Education
Education is the key to a good future, thus wise we gave all children in our shelter access to two ways of education
Formal Education
Every child in our shelter is and has to go to school
Non Formal Education
Non formal education is important to learn life skills as stitching and to spread awareness. In our awareness program the children get lessons about
topics like:
- HIV/AIDS
- Drugs
- Personality Development
- Health & Hygienic
3. Recreational activities
Recreational activities are important for the emotional, social, cognitive and physical development of children. In addition to being critical for general health and a preventative against overweight, playing develops life skills for children and communication skills. Therefore, we provide time, games and exercises for them
4. Health Care
We have regular general health-checkups for the children at the shelter, as well as individual and need based health care referrals. We also organize different camps like dental, eye and ENT camps
5. Counseling
We are providing individual counselling for the children so that they are not alone with their problems.
